Schools get cash for 'urgent safety work'

MORE than 20 schools are to get a share of £45.2 million government funding for urgent safety and safeguarding work.

Among the issues needing to be resolved are fire safety, building safety and gas compliance, according to the Department for Education.

Hall Orchard, in Barrow upon Soar, will see a mobile classroom which has been used for decades swapped for a two-classroom block, head teacher Steve Dunn said.

He said: “This investment marks a significant milestone in our commitment to providing a modern, safe and inspiring learning environment for our students.

“The mobile classroom has served our school for decades - so long, in fact, some of our current parents were once taught in it themselves.
