Park and ride prices set to rise

FARES are set to rise for Leicester's park and ride services.

The city council said it is the first such rise in five years, and officials have stressed prices will still be lower than commercial bus operations.

The increase was confirmed as the council announced that Roberts Travel Group will take over the full operation of the service.

Roberts will run the park and ride from Birstall, Enderby and Meynell’s Gorse from Sunday, August 24, taking control over timetables and fares.

Under a new three-year contract buses must continue to run at least every 15 minutes from Monday to Saturday, from 7am to 7pm.

Roberts said it plans to introduce more stops along all three park and ride routes, including locations such as Freeman’s Common, Redhill Circle and Braunstone leisure centre.
