WHY THE CLUB MAY BE WAITING TO MAKE A DECISION ON MANAGER

- By JORDAN BLACKWELL

LEICESTER City are in manager limbo again as the wait for an update on Ruud van Nistelrooy's future goes on.

Twelve months ago, City were on the hunt for a new boss after Enzo Maresca left for Chelsea, a move that banked the club £10 million in compensation but hurt their preparations for the new Premier League season.

Now, City themselves are delaying their planning for the new campaign by neither preparing for the future with the manager they have in place, nor removing him from his position.

As of the end of last week, City still hadn't spoken to van Nistelrooy about his or the club's future.

It has now been six weeks since the club were relegated and six weeks since the Dutch boss encouraged the board to engage with him and look ahead to the next campaign so City had the best chance possible of putting together a promotion-capable side.

But the season finished with van Nistelrooy saying he could not make plans for the future because he was still in the dark.

He was heading on holiday and anything after that was unknown.
