LEICESTER Tigers fly-half Billy Searle is not one to go looking for trouble, but he is ready to stand his ground when it finds him.

Searle took some hefty hits in Sunday's bruising Gallagher PREM victory over Saracens at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.

When he finished the game with a bloodied nose, his head coach, Geoff Parling, joked that it made him a “true Tigers 10”.

“It was a very physical game,” Searle told the club website.

“I felt like I took quite a few hits, but that’s part of rugby and part of being a 10.

“You are going to get targeted a lot and have play come down your channel. I'm used to it and you get on with it.

“I don’t mind a bit of physicality. I like a bit of a battle on the pitch with the other team.

“If anything it gets me more into the game and more competitive.”

Searle’s Player of the Match performance was the latest in a string of impressive displays since arriving at Mattioli Woods Welford Road.
