GO-AHEAD DESPITE 'SMALL' ROOMS AND NOISE CONCERNS

- By JASMINE SIDDON

PLANS to convert a former escape room into a hotel have been approved in spite of concerns the proposed rooms were too small.

Escape Reality, in St Matthew's Way, Leicester has been unoccupied after it closed.

The Mercury revealed potential future plans for the space in September, after the application was submitted by Vista Impex Ltd. Leicester City Council gave the green light for the development.

The hotel, named "Travotel", will consist of 21 rooms, including 10 on the ground floor, and 11 on the first floor.

The building will accommodate 35 guests as the hotel will provide seven single person suites, and 14 double suites one of which will be wheelchair accessible.

A design and access statement and operations management plan (D&A) states that reception will operate via a digital check-in system.

According to the D&A, staff will be present during the hotel's core hours of 8am until 8pm, with an emergency call-out available 24/7.
