LEICESTER Tigers Women endured a torrid opening 10 minutes as they fell to a 57-5 loss at Trailfinders Women on Saturday afternoon.

As Morgan Richardson and her side ran into the sheds at the break 31-5 down it would have been easy to let their heads drop - but head coach Fraser Goatcher will surely have been pleased by a dogged second half performance.

Goatcher's side faced an opening battery during which the hosts crossed three times for 19 points. Vicky Laflin and Niamh Gallagher touched down after line breaks and Kate Zachary broke off the back of a maul to score.

The girls from Leicester tried to fight their way back into the game. They almost found the tryline as Charlotte Daley made a break, but the 24-year-old was hauled down two metres from the whitewash.
