Delight as sapling of iconic tree takes root in county

BOTANIC GARDENS NOW HOME TO YOUNG PLANT

A SAPLING of the iconic Sycamore Gap has been planted in the county.

The University of Leicester's Botanic Garden has received the sapling from the National Trust.

It has distributed 49 saplings grown from the seed of the famous Northumberland tree that was felled in September 2023 across the UK, including the garden in Oadby as part of the Tree of Hope project.

A delighted Nick Bailey, pic from the National Trust, led by tured, director of the Botanic Gararboriculture specialist Catherine den, has now planted the sapling Nuttgens, chose where they would in the centre of the arboretum in go.
