LEICESTER fighter Sean Bruce is celebrating a successful first defence of his Midlands area super-flyweight title, writes David Wainwright.
Bruce won 97-92 on points against the previously unbeaten Nico Michael in their top of the bill clash on the Black Country Boxing Show at the Mercure Hotel in Michael's home town of Northampton.
Both fighters started off at a measured pace and the first four rounds were evenly split with the better work coming from 29-year-old Bruce, with Michael trying to outwork him where possible.
Things changed from the fifth round with Bruce's better work-rate and great work on the inside clear for all to see.
