Blaze closes busy city route

ELECTRICS BLAMED: Emergency services at London Road yesterday

A BUSY Leicester road was closed yesterday while emergency services dealt with a fire at a building.

London Road was shut in both directions from Victoria Avenue to Highfield Street.

Police were in attendance at the incident at the Mr Potato building while National Grid had to turn off power to 131 properties in the Gotham Street area as equipment had been damaged.

This was expected to last for about three to four hours.
