BOSSES at East Midlands Airport have defended their new rapid drop-off zone - after an MP suggested it is unfairly penalising drivers who do not pay up within 24 hours.

The parking system is now cashless and barrier-less, with car number plates automatically logged in when dropping off passengers.

Drivers are then given 24 hours to log in online and pay their charge. If they miss the deadline, they face a fine of up to £100.
