13-YEAR-OLD HAS RAISED OVER £87K FOR CHARITY
-
A 13-year-old boy has been honoured by Merstham FC for his astonishing achievements, after running hundreds of miles for charity.
Zac Knight, from Smallfield, was invited onto the pitch at half time during the Moatsiders' match on Monday, to be presented with a shirt signed by the first team and a £100 donation towards his remarkable fundraising tally.
Zac, who plays for the club's under-14s, was diagnosed with epilepsy in 2020, when he was eight, and has since dedicated his time to raising awareness about the condition and supporting others who are going through similar challenges.
He has now raised more than £87,000 for Lingfield charity Young Epilepsy.
In the years following his diagnosis, Zac began taking on running challenges that matched his age. He ran eight miles when he was eight, followed by a nine-mile run the next year, and then an 11-mile run after turning 11.
His father, James Knight, said: "After Zac's diagnosis, our family felt completely lost and overwhelmed. We didn't really understand what epilepsy was or how it would affect his life.
