Llamas struggle after poor start with the bat

IT WAS a disappointing start to the 2025 Surrey Championship Premier Division season for Reigate Priory, who lost by seven wickets to Sutton at Park Lane.

The Llamas began the inaugural 2025 season of the merged Surrey Cricket Championship at home against Sutton, with a supporters’ lunch, and a home crowd, enjoying the sunshine.

Park Lane looked a picture, and having finished Premier Division runners-up last year (and having felt pretty hard done by with that), Priory were hoping for a strong start to the year against Sutton who last season finished eighth.

However, it was not to be, and Sutton proved a hard nut to crack.

Priory's new Priory skipper, George Ealham, won the toss and chose to bat, but after a brisk start from last year's skipper Richie Oliver, and Luke Haughton, Priory teetered with some ill-advised shots, and slumped to 49-3.
