Homes designed in honour of former pub wins top accolade

DORKING SOCIETY REVIVES AWARDS - AND REWARDS DEVELOPMENT

NEW homes which pay homage to the pub which used to sit on the land down to the detail of the roses planted in the gardens have won their developer a design award.

The Dorking Society last ran its Best Development Awards in 2016, but decided to revive them this year - and members were delighted with the applications for the 2025 gongs.

Latchmere Properties' development at Pilgrim Lane, in Dorking, was the winner.

The development created eight new homes on the old Pilgrim pub site, off Station Approach, by Dorking West station.

"The judging panel were particularly impressed by the sensitive re-use of the previous built infrastructure and its accompanying brown-field land, the overall design and the contribution to local housing supply, preserving green space elsewhere for future generations," the society said.
