Youth zone boss: Put our safety first over plans for historic pub

The safety of young people is crucial amid ongoing concerns about the future of a crumbling council-owned pub-says the chief of the city's new Youth Zone.

Preston Youth Zone's chief has said timing is critical with the Tithebarn building which sits in the shadow of the new multi-million pound Vault which is taking shape behind the pub.

Last week councillors decided to proceed with a partial demolition of the northern edge of the building which borders the Youth Zone site.

The frontage of the pub-facing into Lord Street-could potentially be retained depending on further surveys.
