Wine bar's road to re-opening follow tragic loss of owner
Lancashire Evening Post
|June 05, 2025
An underground wine bar giving Prestonians a little slice of the Mediterranean in the heart of the city is preparing to re-open.
Winedown has been closed since last summer after the sudden death of its owner and much-loved Preston hospitality chief Douglas Lowe.
Known as Doogie to his friends and regulars his son Will is now preparing to take his place behind the bar.
It's been an emotional decision to make for 23-year-old Will who started helping his father out when they opened the bar in 2015.
He said: "There's a lot of memories wrapped up in here, that's for sure. The past 10 months have been really difficult there's no way around that.
