'Sadness' as chocolate firm shuts doors after 100 years

On the production line at Beech's Fine Chocolates, which has announced its closure after more than 100 years ot making chocolates

Beech's Fine Chocolates Ltd has been declared insolvent.

Letters sent to staff last week informed them they had been made redundant, and one worker has told of their sadness at the end of more than a century of chocolate making.

The firm, based in Fletcher Road, employs around 40 people and has been producing artisan chocolates since 1920 at the Deepdale site.
