Row over bid to change planning law for pitches

A leading figure in Lancashire football is urging clubs and players to join the battle against government proposals to take away the role of Sport England in planning applications.

Under plans which are now open to public feedback, Sport England would be removed as a statutory consultant on changes, which form part of the national planning and infrastructure bill that the government says will speed up the building of new homes and infrastructure, argue it could lead to the loss of thousands of fields.
