Residents 'left in limbo' as vital work remains incomplete

A city councillor is calling for action over ongoing issues which he said are blighting the lives of residents on a housing estate.

Coun Ben Ward said residents on Starling Drive estate were at the end of their tether over the dilapidated nature of much of the area's roads and wider infrastructure, with unsurfaced roads, raised manholes, missing drainage grids and inadequate street lighting just some of the concerns.

While the mixed-use leisure and retail plans for the wider Cottam Brickworks scheme have not materialised despite years of planning wrangles.

The housing estate was originally built by a firm called Lane End which went into administration with the estate two-thirds built. Jigsaw Homes then took control of the estate.
