Putting tomatoes plum centre of the celebration

Salads, soup and sauces - it's British Tomato Fortnight - from today until June 15 - time for celebrating the versatility of the fruit.

The event promotes locally grown tomatoes and the farmers that grow them. British tomatoes are often grown in greenhouses, using sustainable practices that reduce the need for chemical pesticides and conserve water.

Supporting British Tomato Fortnight also means supporting the economy.

The British Tomato Growers’ Association launched this event to promote the benefits of British tomatoes and support local farmers.
