The M6 was closed for five hours overnight while police responded to a concern for welfare incident on a motorway bridge in Preston.

The M6 was closed in both directionsfrom junctions 31 (Samlesbury) to 32 (Broughton) - after the emergency services were called to the Longridge Road bridge between Ribbleton and Red Scar at 11.55pm on New Year's Eve.
