Over-zealous gardener may have wrecked contest hopes

The group which runs a quiet community garden, created particularly for people with dementia, their carers and friends, has received a blow which might damage its chances in the 2025 Britain in Bloom contest, writes Anthony Coppin.

Café organisers rather than the county council. But it seems an over-zealous council worker ventured onto the land recently and strimmed away too much of the attractive greenery.

The county council has since apologised for the incident.
