Dry weather forces delays to opening of wetlands project

A new wetlands put in as part of multi-million pound flood defence works in Penwortham remains fenced off.

The Environment Agency say the dry weather in recent months continues to leave the Ribble Sidings project high and dry.
Preston and the north west has seen its driest start to spring in 69 years due to the warm weather throughout March, April and in May a drought was officially declared.
