A celebration of YOUTH POWER

Youth Day on June 16 honours the fearless students of 1976 who stood up for justice. Nearly 50 years on, today's youth face different struggles, particularly unemployment, but the same spirit of resilience remains.

One young South African who embodies this enduring spirit is Lodumo Nkala (22). He is the founder of Tradelinx and Community Lofts, a social impact project that introduced pigeon racing to South African townships.

Nkala was listed in the Mail & Guardian's Top 200 Young South Africans in 2022. He began his entrepreneurial journey at 16, learning from his older brother to start a small sportswear brand. Now, he's developing cutting-edge investment models using technology and data. His advice to young people: Dream. Picture your ideal future self. Then scale down to the present and take action.
