Landmark crime and police bill will deliver 50 new laws

This week, I proudly voted for one of the most significant pieces of crime legislation in decades, the Crime and Policing Bill.

This landmark Bill, introduced by the Labour Government, delivers over 50 new laws to tackle the crimes that matter most to communities across the UK.

Among its many measures, the Bill brings in Respect Orders cracking down on persistent antisocial behaviour, new powers to seize nuisance off-road bikes, treating violence against women and girls as the national emergency it is, and the introduction of new offences for spiking and stalking.

And it goes further. Labour is calling time on shoplifters, in England every theft will be treated seriously, no matter the amount.

Meanwhile retailers in Kilmarnock and Loudoun have told me that retail theft is out of control, leaving staff feeling vulnerable, and the rest of us paying the price at the checkout!
