The secret filming of patients during labour at LD Hospital is a shameful breach of medical and moral trust.

When Doctors Become Vloggers

Labour rooms are meant to be safe spaces. It’s where women go through some of the hardest hours of their lives. They trust doctors and nurses to care not just for their bodies, but their dignity too.

At LD Hospital in Srinagar, that trust was broken.

Videos of women in their most vulnerable moments were posted on social media by some medicos, as if they were part of a reality show.

Beyond thoughtless behaviour, this is a deep, deliberate violation. It shows how far some have drifted from the values that medicine is supposed to uphold.

Kashmir is a region already strained when it comes to healthcare access. Many women in rural districts rely on overstretched public hospitals.

LD Hospital, one of the largest maternity centers in the valley, sees thousands of births each year. For most patients, especially those from modest backgrounds, this is the only place they can afford.

But what should have been a safe medical experience has now become a source of shame.

These women didn’t sign up to become content for strangers’ phone screens. They came for care, help, and dignity.
