Rotten Meat Destroyed In Jammu Amid J&K-Wide Crackdown

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in Jammu on Friday destroyed nearly 800 to 1,000 kilograms of expired packed meat, continuing the ongoing Jammu and Kashmir-wide crackdown on unsafe and unhygienic meat and dressed chicken.

The expired stock was found stored at a cold storage facility and later destroyed in coordination with the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC).

Asenior officer from the Food Safety Department said the action formed part of a larger drive launched across the Union Territory to check the supply and sale of rotten meat and decomposed chicken. “This is part of the exercise being conducted across J&K. In Jammu, close to a thousand kilograms of expired meat and chicken were recovered and destroyed with the help of JMC,” the officer stated.
