Social media has gone from a digital outlet to a public crisis in Kashmir.

What started as a useful tool for education, connection, and exposure, has morphed into a fast track to viral fame, often at the expense of decency, purpose, and even common sense.

Every day, thousands of young Kashmiris scroll through a flood of reels and videos featuring self-styled influencers lip-syncing to lewd songs, staging pranks in public spaces, or posting clickbait drama.

Many of these accounts repeatedly violate platform rules, get banned, and return under new names, only to grow even faster.

The content isn't just silly. It's often tasteless, sometimes vulgar, and rarely meaningful.
