Shane sees Tribe home free with dramatic late winner
SHANE Walsh snatched a dramatic win with a free from distance after the hooter as Galway kept their Championship hopes alive by ousting the All-Ireland champions in a cracking contest at Breffni Park.
Galway looked set for an early exit when they trailed by eight points at the break in this repeat of last year's All-Ireland Final, but the Tribesmen hit back to win the second half by 2-15 to 0-12 despite an outstanding display from Armagh goal-keeper who kicked 0-7 including three two-pointers.
Galway boss Padraic Joyce brought in Peter Cooke for Player of the Year Paul Conroy in the middle of the field and replaced goalkeeper Connor Gleeson with Conor Flaherty before the game, but they were in serious trouble when they trailed by 0-15 to 0-7 at the end of an opening half where they failed to find the net from two penalties.
