There’s been a lot of talk about Czechia this week after Ireland drew them in the World Cup playoff - with fans set to travel there in droves for the big match next March. However, you don't have to wait that long to visit this charming country - and Christmas is an especially magical time to go.

Prague becomes even more enchanting during Christmas when the city’s iconic Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square will host magnificent Christmas markets from November 29 to January 6. Visitors can enjoy traditional Czech crafts, delicious mulled wine and local delicacies such as trdelnik.
Throughout December, churches and concert halls will host classical music concerts and special Christmas performances and visitors can experience the solemn beauty of Midnight Mass at St. Vitus Cathedral. Prague’s festive programme runs from November 29 until January 1.
The Czech capital oozes festive magic but the story doesn't stop at Prague. If you can tear yourself away, it's easy to experience the joy of the season in some of the other cities - they are all just a train ride away!
The UNESCO-listed town of Cesky Krumlov offers an idyllic Christmas trip for young and old alike. From November 22 to January 4, the main square will host its Christmas market packed with seasonal local products and traditional festive treats.
