Bowie: 70s were full of sex, anger and depression

DAVID Bowie said lust, anger and being moody were behind the songs he recorded in his early years as a pop singer, a newly unearthed interview reveals.

The star, whose first hit was Space Oddity in 1969, had a string of classics in the early 1970s such as Starman and Life On Mars?, before his 'Berlin Trilogy' of albums including Heroes in 1977.

He said in the interview: "I think that throughout the 60s and most of the 70s I was driven by lust as much as anything.
