MVG sparks war of words with old oche foe 'Snakebite'

MICHAEL VAN GERWEN has stoked a war of words with old rival Peter 'Snakebite' Wright, scoffing: "He can't even win a raffle these days.

Van Gerwen and Wright are on a potential collision course in the third round at the Paddy Power PDC World Championship, with the kaleidoscopic Scot claiming the Dutchman has a problem with his eyesight.

But the three-time world champion, who split up from wife, Daphne, earlier this year and is now a single man, laughed: "If you look to my new dates here and there, I don't think there's anything wrong with my eyes.

"Trust me, there's nothing wrong with my eyesight. Don't worry - nothing wrong with it. I keep getting compliments."
