Traitors ratings sly high

HALF a million tune in for first episode of reality series

HALF a million people tuned into the first episode of The Traitors Ireland as last night saw the Faithfuls eliminate one of their own.

Some 469,000 viewers watched the launch on RTE One and RTE One+1 and as of yesterday 47,000 streamed it on the player.

The show is set to be a massive win for the public broadcaster, as the reality show has been extremely popular in other countries.

Last night's episode saw the Traitors come one step closer to winning the possible €50,000.

It was revealed Traitors Paudie, Katelyn and Eamon decided David would be the first victim.

The gardener, 48, from Dublin was the first contestant to be given the envelope of death.

He was mates with everyone - so the Traitors deemed him too powerful to continue.

After he was eliminated, the remaining 21 contestants met for breakfast, where they would discover who been axed.

Presenter Siobhan McSweeney revealed the news by smashing his photograph on the ground, which was met by gasps.
