Scheffler can bounce back at TPC River Highlands and put his US Open struggles firmly in the past

THE US Open provided a thrilling finish but it was a bloodbath of a tournament for punters with 175/1 outsider, JJ Spaun, holding off the challenge of 100/1 shot, Robert MacIntyre, to claim the title in thrilling fashion.

After four gruelling days on the beast that was Oakmont. Scottie Scheffler finished outside the top six and Rory Mcllroy was never a factor, so all in all, it was a lucrative event for the bookmakers.

This week, 38 of the world's top 40 ranked golfers are among a star-studded limited field of 72 players for the Travelers Championship - a designated PGA Tour event with a prize fund of almost €19million.

The venue, TPC River Highlands, has a high degree of difficulty and its three-hole stretch from 15 to 17, dubbed the “Golden Triangle”, has a four-acre lake in its layout.

Scheffler is the defending champion having won this title on the first extra hole of a play-off with Tom Kim after the pair had finished on 22 under par, two shots clear of Tom Hoge and Sungjae im with Justin Thomas, Akshay Bhatia and Patrick Cantlay filling the places.
