Howe willl never reach the very top with nice guy approach

THE problem for Eddie Howe is that he's a good manager rather than a great one.

The English medias darling, apparently he's destined to be the next England manager and become the boss whos going to deliver their second World Cup.

It might happen.

With the power of the Premier League and the extraordinary investment in English youth academies throughout the football pyramid, England will inevitably win a World Cup and Howe might well be the man who guides them there.

Summer tournaments in the sun over a few weeks are less demanding than the nine-month slog of battling for Premier League glory.

That might suit Howe.

However, I don't think he'll ever be the main man in the Premier League because he doesn't have that edge.

There’ a difference between good and great.

Steady Eddie is someone who can manage diligently, organise proficiently and do the obvious things well but I don’t think he'll ever be a gaffer to deliver real innovation and epic imagination.
