SILVA: HONOUR TO LEAD CITY'S GOLDEN TALENT
Irish Daily Star
|June 28, 2025
BERNARDO SILVA is determined to leave a legacy for Manchester City's next generation.
The City captain has been a huge part of the club's most successful era under Pep Guardiola.
After finishing last season empty-handed, City are determined to prove they are back by winning the Club World Cup.
But the far bigger target is to create a pathway for the stars of tomorrow in the way Vincent Kompany, Yaya Toure and Sergio Aguero did for him.
It is beginning to feel like a new City team and Bernardo (circle) insists that being given the captain's armband is an honour.
But the Portuguese playmaker believes the established stars have a responsibility to help guide the younger players.
Bernardo said: “It's part of life. We've had a team that passed when I'm going to talk about players that were so important for this club and left. Like Vincent, David Silva, Fernandinho and Kun Aguero.
