Martin: Export resumption is vital for trade

THE resumption of Irish beef exports to China will be “important and positive" for trade, the Taoiseach has claimed.

Micheal Martin said it reflected the confidence in the “robustness” of Ireland's food safety standards.

The Taoiseach had visited China last week and pressed for the market to be reopened for Irish beef products.

He also met with China's President Xi Jinping and Zhao Leji, chairman of China's National People's Congress.
