Colourful character returns to Square in dementia scenes

IT HAS been 13 years since EastEnders icon Pat Evans broke hearts on New Year's Day after losing her battle with cancer just hours after breaking the sad news of her illness to loved ones.

But now the legendary soap icon is to make her second return to Albert Square as an apparition - this time in the mind of poor Nigel Bates, as he continues to struggle with dementia.

The last time that viewers saw Pat, played by Pam St Clement, was in 2016, when she appeared to Peggy as a vision in her final moments before she succumbed to her own battle with brain and bone cancer.
