PARIS ST-GERMAIN are the new champions of Europe and their performance against Inter Milan on Saturday was stunning.

No team ever has impressed me more than this PSG side

They broke a record by creating a five-goal gap, which had never been done in a European Cup final before.

But it wasn't just that statistic that underlined the gulf in class between PSG and the rest of Europe, it was their workrate and their confidence throughout Saturday's final.

It was the fact that three of their goals came from two teen-agers. How many times can you say that about a major final in any sport?

And 19-year-old Désíre Doué also contributed an assist for the first goal with his electri-fying pace and incredible speed of thought.

Virgil Van Dijk said after Liverpool were knocked out of the competition by PSG that they were the best team he'd played against in the last three years.

That's quite something when you consider that, in that period, he came up against Manchester City's treble-winning team.

He paid PSG the highest compliment and on Saturday night Luis Enrique's side proved once again how right he was.

It's worth underlining that although Inter Milan, in relative terms, looked terrible during the 90 minutes in Munich, they had only been behind for a total of 16 minutes in the entirety of their Champions League campaign up to that point.

And this is a team that finished a point behind Napoli, and beat Barcelona 7-6 on aggregate in one of the most entertaining semi-final ties in the history of the tournament.

So, this was a stunning perfor-mance and as big a statement of where PSG are right now as you can get.

You have to wonder how far these players can go after Saturday's performance.
