Burn shows why Tuchel wants him on plane to USA

- BY LEE RYDER

DAN BURN'S sensational ‘Bend it like Beckham’ header put Newcastle on the way to victory over Athletic Bilbao in a testing Champions League clash.

Burn’ opener gave Newcastle the start they wanted - and showed why England boss Thomas Tuchel rates the big defender so highly and has him in his World Cup plans.

A second from Brazilian Joelinton gave the Magpies a vital win as they bounced back from a disastrous performance at the weekend against West Ham.

The Magpies made just two changes to the side that had capitulated on Sunday, with Kieran Trippier shaking off an illness to replace Emil Krafth and Harvey Barnes - the two-goal hero against Benfica last month - starting ahead of Jacob Murphy.

Neither side could get an early grip on the game but it was the visitors who had the first effort on target.

A corner was swung in by Alex Berenguer but Unai Gomez headed straight at Nick Pope.
