MESSAGE FROM MASTERSON IS LOUTH & CLEAR

Bryan Masterson has sent out a message that Longford should feel inspiration rather than envy about Louth’s progress.

- BY GARRY DOYLE

The Midlanders beat Louth in the Leinster championship in 2020.

But since then the Wee County have been on an upward trajectory, reaching three Leinster finals, winning one, whereas Longford have won only a single Leinster championship game in the same timeframe.

But Masterson believes they need to show ambition and aim for the stars.

The 23-year-old said: “Yes, absolutely Louth's surge is something we have looked at. We would have played them in the League there not too long ago.

“We would have played them in different games throughout the year. You look at them now, they're obviously a top team... I definitely think it is an inspiration.”

That inspiration, he stresses, has to be turned into something practical.
