Martin under pressure after FF Aras review

FIANNA Fail leader Micheal Martin faced scrutiny from his party last night as it was revealed his top adviser knew of issues Jim Gavin had with a tenant before his selection.

A long-awaited review into the party's failed presidential campaign noted the Taoiseach's top adviser, Deirdre Gillane, received a call from Irish Independent journalist Fionnan Sheahan on September 5 in relation to a dispute Mr Gavin had with a tenant.

Four days later, the former Dublin GAA boss was selected as Fianna Fail's Aras candidate following an internal vote.

Mr Gavin said he had no recollection of a dispute with a tenant after it being raised three times within the party.

The report also revealed GAA legend Keith Barr first recommended Mr Gavin to Fianna Fail to run as its presidential candidate.
