LEONA MAGUIRE shot a second-round 75 to lose ground on the leaders at the KPMG Women's Irish Open at Carton House yesterday.

- BY KEN O'CONNOR

The Cavan woman is one over par in total - and in t-49th, some 12 shots adrift of tournament leader Lottie Woad - after finding it tough to build on her opening 72.

Maguire looked in danger of missing the cut for the weekend when she shot a double bogey at the par-4 11th hole but she bounced back with two birdies to stay in the hunt in windy conditions.

"It was more of a grind today," said Maguire. "Definitely those gusts were very tricky to say the least. I'm proud of how I hung in and, yeah, two more days."

Maguire is one of just four Irish players to have made the cut in Maynooth, along with Emma Fleming, Anna Foster, and Canice Screen.
