Brilliant Alcaraz makes Centre his own personal kingdom with an imperious destruction of last-Brit standing Norrie

- BY ANDY DUNN

IN THE COURT OF KING CARLOS

AFTER playing a delicious drop shot in the fourth game of the third set, Cam Norrie urged the Centre Court crowd to rev up their support for him.

And briefly, they did. But it was hard not to think that, for many, the main reason an extension of the match would have been nice is that they could have seen more of Carlos Alcaraz.

More of a player who is already a great at the age of 22.

More of a player who will accumulate the sort of Grand Slam numbers posted by the triumvirate of Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.

More of a player who is thunderously talented in all departments.

More of a player who wins points with a deft stop-volley one moment, a 138mph serve the next.

More of a player whose athleticism is so reminiscent of his countryman Nadal (right).

More of a player who is now on a 19-match winning streak at Wimbledon and a 23-match winning streak in 2025.
