Former rugby player Moody reveals his battle with MND

FORMER England rugby hero Lewis Moody has revealed he is battling motor neurone disease.

The World Cup winner said he is struggling to face the future as he comes to terms with his shock diagnosis.

The cruel muscle-wasting disease has claimed the lives of fellow rugby legends Doddie Weir and Rob Burrow in recent years.

Lewis, 47, said: “There’s something about looking the future in the face and not wanting to really process that at the minute.

“It's not that I don't understand where it's going. We understand that.

“But there is absolutely a reluctance to look the future in the face for now.”

The dad of two said he realised something was wrong when he experienced weakness in his shoulder during a gym session.
