Irish wife of man held in Iraq prison tells of pain on 4th anniversary
A WIFE whose husband marks four years today in an Iraqi prison fears she "may never see him again".
Desree Pether, from Elphin in Co Roscommon, has repeatedly petitioned Iraq's embassy for the freedom of Robert Pether, who was jailed in Baghdad on April 7, 2021.
After several attempts to appeal Rob's case in court were blocked by legal wrangles in Iraq, heartbroken Desree revealed he might get a life sentence.
She told The Star last night: "We're just devastated. We don't know what else to do. We've tried everything.
"I've been to the Iraq embassy in Dublin multiple times and also the Iraq embassy in London and Australia.
