Rebel legend: We must follow up big performances with a trophy if we are to be considered a serious outfit

CORK must win major silverware to confirm their status as a serious outfit, says ace forward Patrick Horgan.

Cork haven't won a trophy of note at senior level since the Munster title of 2018 and it's well documented how this year marks the 20th anniversary of their last All-Ireland success. The longest drought of all is that without a League title, having not won that particular competition since way back in 1998.

Reaching last year's All-Ireland final, which they lost by a point to Clare after extra time, and beating an all-conquering Limerick side twice en route, has boosted Cork's credibility but Horgan believes they need something more tangible now.

"I'd say we probably need to win some sort of a trophy as well on top of that," said the 36-year-old when speaking at the launch of John West's sponsorship of Feile, which is going into a 10th year.
