Struggling Hamilton tipped to shine with Italians

JOINING Ferrari in possibly the biggest driver transfer in Formula One history, Lewis Hamilton had two simple aims.

He wanted to fulfil his childhood dream of driving the famous red car, and secure an eighth title before he retires.

That latter ambition looks further away than ever after a hellish Hungarian Grand Prix which prompted one of the most desperate statements the Briton has ever made in his long F1 career.

But there is more to the situation than his "I'm useless" self-diagnosis.
