Five rookies' shower prank which 'got out of hand' ends in dismissals

FIVE trainee gardai have been sacked for handcuffing another rookie and leaving him under a running shower - in what has been described as 'a prank that got out of hand'.

The Star understands the incident occurred in the Garda Training College in Templemore, Co Tipperary, over the summer.

It's alleged that the victim of the 'prank' only emerged from the shower after another trainee discovered him and managed to uncuff him and let him out.

This paper also understands that prior to the alleged handcuffing and shower incident, the trainee's mattress was also allegedly placed on top of a wardrobe.
