A CONVICTED drug dealer has been taken to hospital after it was suspected he swallowed a phone in prison.

Finglas criminal Kaide Fowler, 38, who was jailed last December for four and a half years for drug dealing and money laundering, was rushed from Dublin's Wheatfield Prison to hospital on Tuesday night.

Fowler, whose father was stabbed to death in 2024, is suspected to have swallowed a mobile phone, which is considered contraband behind bars.

Prison officers feared Fowler may have seriously injured or poisoned himself in the process of trying to conceal the phone amid a search.
