Donegal still in the hunt but, like the rest, they have flaws that need addressed

ANOTHER dramatic day of action in the group stages on Saturday has left me with the following conclusion - I haven't got a clue who is going to win the All-Ireland this year.

I have had Donegal in pole position all year and I will leave them there but, like every other team out there, they have plenty of flaws.

A dark, wet and dreary evening was the perfect setting for the Tyrone ambush, especially off the back of what would have been an emotionally draining Ulster final for Donegal.

Donegal got nowhere near the level of that or previous games.

They have though been conceding a lot of goal chances throughout the Ulster Championship and Tyrone took two of their opportunities on Saturday night which ultimately proved the difference. The most pleasing aspect of this win for Malachy O'Rourke has to be the response to Paddy McBrearty's two-pointer in the 61st minute, which left his team two behind.

Despite losing the next kickout, a poor handling error from McBrearty gifted Tyrone possession which led to the brilliant Darren McCurry cutting the gap to one point.
